What sort of sustainability policy do we need to face the social challenges of the next 30 years? What part will independent research and advisory centres such as the Öko-Institut play in this policy-making? These and many other questions will be addressed at the anniversary conference being organized by the Öko-Institut in Freiburg, Germany, on Friday, 22 June 2007 to mark the 30th year of its work. A wide range of speakers from the political, academic and business arena will join Europe’s leading environmental research institute to cast a critical look at sustainability issues from both current and future perspectives. For the evening a celebration event is scheduled which will include an entertaining review of the 30-year-long history of the Institute’s success.
